The Edward River region provides investors and entrepreneurs with the opportunity to develop a successful business in a stable environment, with lower overheads, a skilled workforce, affordable real estate and attractive returns on investment.

The agriculture, healthcare and retail sectors are the region’s largest employers, with the strength and diversity of the Edward River agriculture industry demonstrated by the local presence of major organisations in both the private and public sectors.

Murray Irrigation Limited, which provides irrigation water to over 2,200 farms across 724,000 hectares of farmland throughout southern NSW is headquartered in Deniliquin. SunRice Group, one of Australia’s leading branded food producers and food service providers, operates a rice mill at Deniliquin.

The Australian Meat Group, a meat processing and exporting business, capitalises off the busy Deniliquin Saleyards, operating a stock processing facility and abattoir locally which processes lamb, mutton, goat and veal.

The NSW Government also maintains offices of various departments and agencies in the Edward River community, with the NSW Department of Primary Industries operating the Deniliquin Agricultural Research and Advisory Station in Deniliquin.

Deniliquin has 13 practicing General Practitioners, a 50 bed public hospital, two 50 bed aged care facilities, four primary schools a high school and a local campus of Riverina College of TAFE.
