Deniliquin Sports Stadium to officially open

Published on 13 February 2020

Works at the Deniliquin Sports Stadium have been completed with the venue officially opening this Monday, February 17.

The project was funded through the NSW Government’s Club Grants and Stronger Communities Fund, the Deniliquin Community Group Incorporated, Deniliquin Sports Park Incorporated and Edward River Council.

Works undertaken included the addition of four bays, the reconstruction of a multi-purpose floating timber floor, construction of a multi-purpose room and the installation of a fire system and tanks.

The main contractor to work on the project was B Green Constructions.

Edward River Council Mayor Norm Brennan said that to have the facilities upgraded at the sport stadium was a major boost for the whole community.

“It took a great deal of work by a lot of dedicated Council staff, contractors, and management committee volunteers, but I think the results speak for themselves,” Cr Brennan said.

“Creating a safe and welcoming environment for people of all ages to come and keep active all year round and make use of the facilities was really important to us.”

“It will be great to see as many people as possible come along to the official opening on Monday at 5.30pm and take a look around the new facilities that are now on offer.”

“This development supports improvement in the sports provided within the Centre and allows growth of new sports in the future.”

The official opening will include demonstrations for badminton, lifeball, gymnastics and indoor cricket as well as showcasing the upgraded and new facilities.

A ribbon cutting ceremony and a free community sausage sizzle run by the Rotary Club of Deniliquin will also be part of the celebrations
