Edward River Council is pleased to announce its decision to enter into lease negotiations with Deni Youth Initiative for the use of the vacant CWA Hall, following a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) in April.

Council received four submissions in total—three conforming and one late submission, which was also considered. After careful evaluation, Council resolved to negotiate a lease with Deni Youth Initiative for a period of up to two years.

Deni Youth Initiative proposes to transform the CWA Hall into a vibrant community hub focused on youth engagement, skill-building, and support services. Their vision includes offering programs that develop both trade and academic skills, empowering young people to become active and capable citizens within the Edward River community.

As part of their proposal, the Initiative has committed to undertaking refurbishment and maintenance work on the Hall. This work will be carried out with the support of local organisations and businesses, providing hands-on learning opportunities for youth while enhancing the facility for community use.

Council acknowledges the strong interest shown by other community groups, including South West Music, SHADE Deniliquin, and CWA Deniliquin, and thanks all applicants for their thoughtful submissions.

Mayor of Edward River Council, Ashley Hall, said, “Council is excited to see the CWA Hall activated in a way that supports our young people and strengthens community connections. We look forward to working with Deni Youth Initiative to make this vision a reality.”

Council looks forward to this partnership breathing new life into the Hall and delivering lasting benefits for the Edward River community.
