Volunteer with Council

Volunteering offers great opportunities to be part of our community. We have a group of wonderful volunteers who help run the Peppin Heritage Centre, Gallery and Visitor Information Centre, where they welcome visitors to our town. Volunteers also play an important role at the Deniliquin Town Hall, supporting events in the theatres and function rooms, and delivering tours of this beautifully renovated historic building. At the Edward River Library, volunteers cover books and assist with programs and events. They can help you trace your family history, borrow an item or have a book home delivered.

FRIENDS OF THE TOWN HALL

Are you passionate about local history, culture, art, and community engagement? Do you have a desire to contribute your time and skills to creating a vibrant cultural venue? If so, we invite you to join our team as a volunteer staff member at the Deniliquin Town Hall.

Since its official opening in 1876, the Deniliquin Town Hall has been home to community gatherings and ceremonies, performances and celebrations. Through fire and flood, the Town Hall has endured as an important meeting place for generations of the Edward River community. 

After its beautiful renovation and reopening in February 2023, it has hosted performances, workshops, educational programs, weddings and corporate events.

As a volunteer staff member, you will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in the ongoing operations of the Hall including performing a range of duties such as welcoming visitors, delivering historical venue tours and event support.

Edward River Council is now seeking expressions of interest from community members who are enthusiastic and customer focused, flexible, reliable, team focused and willing to demonstrate and display Council’s organisational values. Volunteers would be required for occasional events that are scheduled throughout the year.
