Australia Day Awards

The Australia Day Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of individuals and community organisations in our region. They provide a great opportunity to recognise the deserving individuals who have made a real difference in our community.

Each year Council will recognise the outstanding contributions from local community members and organisations across nine categories; Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sports Award, Junior Sports Award, Arts & Culture Award, Junior Arts & Culture Award, Community Event of the Year, Community Group of the Year and Environmental Citizen of the Year (the Bill & Elwyn Hermiston Memorial Award).

Award recipients are determined by Council’s Australia Day Awards Assessment Panel, with recipients announced at Council’s Australia Day celebrations, held annually on 26 January.
