About the Role & Responsibilities:
As our Apprentice Horticulturalist, you will work closely with our Parks, Gardens, Facilities, and Open Spaces teams. You’ll develop hands-on skills in maintaining and enhancing our community’s green spaces, including:
- Assisting with planting, pruning, mowing, and irrigation
- Safely operating and maintaining garden tools and equipment
- Participating in structured training and short courses
- Installing and maintaining irrigation systems
- Supporting the street tree planting and maintenance program
- Providing excellent customer service to park visitors and community members
- Engaging in ongoing training and personal development
What We're Looking For
- Passion for horticulture, gardening, and the outdoors
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Commitment to learning and self-improvement
- Customer-focused attitude
- Willingness to undertake manual outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills
- Current driver’s license or ability to obtain one
- WHS Construction Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain
