FREE Community Compost Giveaway

Edward River Council and Halve Waste are giving back to the Community as a thank you for taking on the huge change to the way we manage waste.

We acknowledge that the introduction of the 3 bin system has required a massive mind shift for our community when it comes to food and garden waste, and residents have embraced it.

To show our appreciation, ERC are giving away FREE ute loads and bags of compost to ERC rate payers on 31 August from 8am-2pm at the Deniliquin Saleyards. 

BYO shovels and bags and help yourself or bring your own trailers or ute and get assistance from our staff to load.

Instructions for free compost collection

In ensure a safe and orderly collection service, please follow the following instructions: 

• Children must remain in cars at all times.
• Residents with utes and trailers to remain in cars at all times - you will be directed to the appropriate spot to pull up.
• Trailers must be no bigger than 6x4 - larger trailers and trucks will not be given access.
• Residents loading their own shovels, buckets and bags will be able to help themselves at a designated spot.
• Traffic management will be in place and must be adhered to in the interests of public safety.
• Loads of compost must be covered (by law).
• Residents may pick up one-load only. 
• Shovels, buckets and bags will NOT be provided, please bring your own!
• Compost handling guides will be given out before loads collected.
• Gloves and hand sanitiser will be supplied by council staff.
• This event may be postponed if a significant weather event is forecast or occurs.

Most importantly of all, we request that all attending have patience and kindly respect the traffic management staff who will be directing vehicles to ensure a safe and efficient event for all.
