Edward River Council (ERC) is seeking input from the Edward River community regarding the implementation of the 3-bin system outlined in the draft Domestic Waste Management Policy.

The introduction of the 3-bin system marks a significant step forward in Council’s commitment to efficient and sustainable waste management practices.

The initiative aims to streamline waste disposal processes, enhance recycling efforts, and reduce the environmental impact of our waste.

The proposed rules within the draft policy cover various aspects of waste management, including bin allocation, collection schedules, acceptable materials for each bin type, and penalties for non-compliance.

"We believe that involving our community in the decision-making processes is crucial, especially when it comes to matters that directly impact their daily lives. The 3-bin system is a step towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, and we want our residents to play an active role in shaping these changes," explained Phil Stone, Chief Executive Officer of Edward River Council.

The draft policy will be on exhibition from Thursday 22 February 2024 and can be accessed here(PDF, 119KB) or hard copies are available at Council’s Customer Service Centre.
