About You:

  • Are you a dedicated safety professional with a passion for workplace health and safety, and a deep understanding of WHS legislation and risk management? 
  • Do you have a background in managing workplace health and safety frameworks with the ability to have courageous conversations that challenges the status-quo?
  • Are you a true people-person, who can engage with all team members in the workplace and embed a ‘safety first’ approach to everything that we do?

 

About your new Role:

As our WHS Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring safety systems, policies and processes are contemporary, compliant, understood and embraced by everyone across the organisation driving a culture of ‘safety first’. Reporting to the Manager of Governance, Safety & Risk, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the development and implementation of safety awareness framework, programs and delivering WHS training and development programs, collaborating with teams to improve WHS culture
  • Coordinating WHS committee activities and Council's WHS audit program
  • Managing WHS registers and compliance and overseeing accident/incident investigations whilst overseeing claims management and co-ordinating return to work programs
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring and improving WHS systems whilst ensuring regulatory and statutory reporting requirements are met.

 

Do You Have These Key Attributes?

  • Contemporary experience and knowledge in safety systems aligning back to risk management.
  • A collaborative approach to relationship building to achieve organisational goals and strong WHS culture.
  • Ability to develop and implement required Work Health and Safety documents and training materials to drive ‘safety first’ culture.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma of Work Health and Safety or equivalent experience in a comparable role combined with ongoing professional development.
  • Contemporary experience in safety system management and return to work programs.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
  • National Police check or willingness to obtain.
  • Current Drivers Licence.

 

Desirable:

  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator Certification.
  • Experience in Local Government.
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
  • WHS Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
